I received my new 2230 with FEL and now need to mount some lights on my ROPS (can't see thru/over the FEL!). What are the capabilities while protecting my electrical system? Halogen, 55 watts per light? More? Separate switch? 2 -Facing forward + 1 facing back? Thoughts?

Duker, If you do a search on `work light' there is a lot of general info here. Best to operate auxillary lights thru a relay as the factory wiring for work lights is usually limited to about 70W. Don't overload your charging capability. If you look at my pics you can see my setup.

With the cabs on these tractores we have had to sell the alternator package to offset the lights and the heater draw when all are in use. Beware that you might have to allow the tractor to run without all the lights from time to time to recharge the battery properly. ....

Thanks Art. Since I am only looking at the additional lighting, (no heater), what do you think? 3 lights at 55 watts per light? My thoughts are that when I would use them I would not be running the regular front lights (separate switch). No damage? No risks? ....

Good insights Bliz. 70 watts 'eh? Wow, this is an area where the factory could sure help us folks out by providing the additional lighting capability - especially when you buy a FEL with the tractor. Ah, they're more interested in meeting the ROPS issue than effective lighting. ;-)

I have a MF GC2300 - very similar to BX2200. My dealer just installed 2 55W front-facing lights on top of the ROPS, and one 35W rear-facing on the rear fender. Installation was functional, not fancy. U-clamps onto ROPS for fronts, and just bolted on to the fender for the rear. I know the installation is pretty simple, but I had a few qualms/questions and I figured since I have a 2 year warranty on the tractor, I wouldn't risk voiding it (somehow...).
As for the lights, I've used 'em once in snow, and again tonight in rain. In all honesty, I think the rear should have been mounted higher (maybe also on the ROPS, but lower down) and angled down, but I can live with this. Front-facing lights are great. Makes a huge difference for visibility. Good luck! ....

I agree Duker! My 2230 was useless with either the snowblower or the FEL attached. I put 2 35 watt rubber cased worklights which I got from my dealeron either side of the ROPS. I committed the great feau pax by drilling the mounting holes and holes to run the wires inside the ROPS. This is something which Kubota should have already done at the factory!!! Anyway, 2 35 watters facing forward works great. Because it is a tractor you don't have to project light very far, you're not going that fast, just need the "flood" effect.
